For nearly 30 years, Tom Armitage has been involved with Children’s HeartLink.

“Children’s HeartLink is family for me. There is no other organization I would rather work with and for than Children’s HeartLink. It’s such a kind-hearted group of people, integrity just oozes from this group,” Tom Armitage shared with Children’s HeartLink staff. He continued, “This organization is poised better now than ever before to grow, and that means we can help more children. And that is exciting.”

Tom is an engineer and medical doctor, who retired after a 25-year career with Medtronic, last serving in the role of Vice President of Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs for the Medtronic Structural Heart Disease Business. From 1997-2013, Tom served on the Children’s HeartLink Board of Directors, and as chair from 2005-2007.

In 2014, he stepped in to serve as the Children’s HeartLink interim president for 5 months and led the organization through the final stages of its strategic plan. Most recently, Tom served on the board as vice chair.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tom Armitage back as board chair. He has been an advocate and supporter of Children’s HeartLink for a long time,” said Jackie Boucher, Children’s HeartLink president. “His knowledge, expertise and connections will benefit our organization in helping us grow and reach our ambitious goals.”

As for why Tom is so dedicated to Children’s HeartLink, “When you see and hear these kids, you realize that they are completely and entirely innocent. There wasn’t anything that they did wrong, they just happened to be born with congenital heart disease. How can you not be inspired to help them?”

Tom is also serving as board chair for Ashland Productions, youth-centered, multigenerational theater company that fosters self-esteem and a sense of belonging. And, was previously chair of the Camp Odayin Board of Directors.

Welcome to the Children’s HeartLink Board of Directors!
