Children’s HeartLink is thrilled to share that Boston Scientific is doubling donations made to the Little Hearts, Big Change campaign this February.
The initiative raises awareness for the 1.3 million children born with congenital heart disease every year. More than 70% of babies with a heart defect will require medical or surgical treatment in their first year of life.
Yet in low- and middle-income countries, less than 1% of babies will receive this lifesaving surgery.
Most of these heart defects are highly treatable if pediatric cardiac care is available. Children’s HeartLink works with medical teams around the globe, training them to provide treatment and surgeries.

Since 2008, Boston Scientific has partnered with Children’s HeartLink to help increase access to heart care for children in Malaysia. With their support and the support of the Malaysia government, we’ve contributed to cardiac workforce expansion, national health care planning and financing for heart surgery. In Malaysia, 2,000-3,000 children require heart surgery every year, yet most don’t get the care they need. There are few pediatric cardiac programs and long patient waiting lists in this country of 31 million people.
Children’s HeartLink saves children’s lives by transforming pediatric heart care in underserved parts of the world. Founded in 1969, Children’s HeartLink currently supports 18 partner hospitals in Brazil, China, India, Malaysia and Vietnam.
